Serp Tracker: Getting Started — Create a Campaign and Use the Dashboard

Getting Started: Creating Your First Campaign

A campaign in SERP Tracker represents one website or brand you want to track. Each campaign has its own keyword list, location settings, tracking schedule, and Google Search Console (GSC) connection. This guide walks you through creating your first campaign from scratch.

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • Your website's domain (e.g. example.com — no http:// or https://)
  • Optionally: a Google Search Console account connected to your site (you can add this later)

Step 1 — Open the Campaign Wizard

Go to SERP Tracker in the left sidebar, then click Manage campaigns. At the top-right of the page, click + New campaign.

Tip: You can also click the + button next to the campaign name in the sidebar to jump straight to the wizard.

Step 2 — Fill in the Basics

The wizard opens on Step 1 of 3: Basics.

Step 1 - Basics: Campaign Name, Domain, Business Profile fields

Fill in the following fields:

Campaign Name — A label for this campaign (e.g. "My Website Rankings"). This name appears in the sidebar dropdown so you can switch between campaigns.

Domain — Enter your domain without the protocol: example.com not https://example.com.

Business Profile (optional) — If you have a Google Business Profile for this domain, search for it here by name. When GTrack detects your business in a keyword's Local Pack results, it will tag it as "Your business" on the keyword detail page.

Click Next to proceed.

Step 3 — Set a Default Location

Step 2 of 3: Default Location lets you choose the geographic location GTrack uses when checking rankings. This pre-fills the Location field every time you add a new keyword (you can still override it per keyword).

Step 2 - Default Location: location search field with autocomplete dropdown

To set a location:

  1. Click the Search for a place... field and start typing a city, region, or country.
  2. Select the matching suggestion from the dropdown. GTrack will fill in the GPS coordinates automatically.

To enter coordinates manually: Click Enter coordinates manually to expand the Latitude / Longitude fields.

Click Next when your location is selected (a green coordinate badge confirms it).

Step 4 — Configure Schedule & Depth

Step 3 of 3: Schedule & Depth controls how often GTrack automatically checks your rankings.

Step 3 - Schedule & Depth: Frequency, Day of week, Time, Timezone, Max SERP Pages

Setting

Description

Frequency

How often to auto-run tracking: Weekly, Daily, or Monthly

Day of week

Which day to run (for Weekly frequency)

Time of day

What time to trigger the run (24-hour format)

Timezone

Your timezone (default: UTC)

Enable scheduled tracking

Toggle to turn auto-tracking on or off

Max SERP Pages (Search Depth)

1–10 pages searched per keyword. 5 = up to 50 results; 10 = up to 100 results. Higher depth finds lower rankings but uses more credits.

When you're happy with the settings, click ✓ Create Campaign.

After Creating a Campaign

You'll land on the Keywords page for your new campaign. From here you can:

  • Add keywords one by one or in bulk
  • Connect a Google Search Console property in Settings
  • Run your first tracking check with Run Tracking

Managing Your Campaigns

Go to Manage campaigns in the sidebar at any time to see all your campaigns. You can rename (pencil icon), open Tracking Settings (gear icon), or reorder campaigns by dragging the handle on the left.

Note: Your plan shows the campaign limit (e.g. "2/20 used").

After Creation — The Campaign Dashboard

Adding keywords is the first thing most people do — but once a tracking run has completed and you want a high-level pulse on your campaign without scrolling through the full keyword table, open the Dashboard. It surfaces the four numbers that matter most plus the keywords that moved the most since the last run.

Opening the Dashboard

In the left sidebar, expand SERP Tracker, select your campaign from the dropdown, then click Dashboard.

Dashboard showing KPI cards: Keywords 58, Avg Position 18.2, Rank Changes ↑7 ↓4, Competitors 923, and Top Movers list

KPI Cards

The top row shows four summary cards:

Card

What it shows

Keywords

Total keywords in this campaign (e.g. 58), with a note on how many have been tracked. Click the search icon to jump to the Keywords page.

Avg Position

Your average ranking position across all tracked keywords over the last tracking run.

Rank Changes

How many keywords moved up (green ↑) and down (red ↓) since the previous run.

Competitors

Total unique competitor domains detected across all your tracked keywords. Shows the date of the last tracking run.

What does "Avg Position" mean? A lower number is better. Position 1 means you rank first on Google for that keyword.

Top Movers

Below the KPI cards, the Top Movers list shows keywords with the most significant ranking changes since the last run. Each row shows the keyword name, old rank → new rank, and a colored badge (red for drops, green for gains).

Keywords Preview

The bottom section shows a sample of your tracked keywords with their current location and rank. Keywords that haven't been tracked yet show -- for rank. Click View All to go to the full Keywords page, or click Campaign Details at the top-right to navigate there directly.

Switching Campaigns

To view a different campaign's dashboard, click the campaign name dropdown in the sidebar and select another campaign.
