Serp Tracker: Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often from new GTrack users. If your question isn't here, the topic-specific guides cover most of GTrack in step-by-step detail.
How often is ranking data updated?
Ranking data updates each time a tracking run completes — on your configured schedule or when you manually click Run Tracking. Rankings are not real-time.
Why does my keyword show "--" for rank?
The keyword hasn't been tracked yet, or your site wasn't found within the configured search depth. Try increasing Max SERP Pages or running tracking manually.
Does every tracking run use credits?
Yes. Credits consumed = keywords × Max SERP Pages. Monitor your balance in the Credits widget in the sidebar.
Can I track the same keyword for multiple locations?
Yes — add the same keyword multiple times with different locations. Each appears as a separate row in the Keywords table.
Why isn't Search Performance showing data?
You need a linked Google Search Console property. Go to Settings, connect GSC, and link a property to this campaign. Also click Refresh GSC Data — there's a 48–72 hour lag.
What's the difference between Search Performance and Keywords?
- Keywords — data from GTrack's own active rank checks
- Search Performance — data from Google Search Console (all queries Google recorded)
Use Keywords for precise rank monitoring; Search Performance for traffic and query discovery.
How do I remove a keyword from tracking?
Check the checkbox next to the keyword(s) on the Keywords page, then click the red Delete button.
What happens to my data if I pause tracking?
Disabling scheduled tracking stops automatic runs but does NOT delete data. All historical rankings, competitors, and GSC data remain intact.
Can I track mobile and desktop separately?
Yes — set Device to Mobile or Desktop when adding a keyword. Choose "Both" to add two separate entries (one per device).
How does Opportunities get its data?
All four tabs pull from your linked Google Search Console data. You need an active GSC connection and at least a few days of data.
