# Serp Tracker: Competitors and Keyword Deep-Dive

# Tracking Competitors

The **Competitors** section automatically discovers which other websites are appearing in Google's results for the same keywords you're tracking. You don't need to configure anything — competitors are found and logged every time a tracking run completes.

## Opening the Competitors Page

From the Keywords page, click the **Competitors** button in the campaign header.

## Competitor Stats

| Stat | Meaning |
| ---- |
| **Total competitors** | All unique domains ever seen in your tracked keyword results |
| **Active** | Competitors still appearing in current results |
| **Lost** | Competitors that appeared before but are no longer found |
| **Median position** | The median ranking of all competitors across your keywords |
| **Most keywords** | The competitor domain ranking for the most of your tracked keywords |

## The Competitors Table

Each row shows:
* **Domain** — click the external link icon to visit their site
* **Avg position** — their average ranking across keywords where they appear
* **Keywords** — how many of your tracked keywords they rank for
* **First seen** — when GTrack first detected them

**Filter by domain:** Use the **Filter by domain...** search box.
**Filter by status:** Use the **All statuses** dropdown (Active / Lost).
**Export:** Click **Export CSV** to download the full list.

## Competitor Detail Page

Click any competitor domain to open their detail page with stats (avg position, keywords, pages tracked, changes detected) and a full **Page Snapshots** history.

### Page Snapshots

For each page on the competitor's site that ranked for your keywords, you can see:
* The URL, title, and meta description preview
* Number of snapshots captured and the latest date
* A timeline of changes (click **Show X earlier snapshots** to expand)
* Whether each snapshot had "No change" or "X changes" vs. the previous version

Use **Export** to download the snapshot list as a CSV.

## What Competitor Tracking Tells You

* Who your real SEO competitors are (often different from business competitors)
* When a competitor updates their pages — spot content changes and optimization moves
* How competitive your tracked keywords are

## Drilling into a Single Keyword

Competitors tell you who else is ranking. To understand **why** your own keyword ranks where it does — and how that has changed over time — open its individual detail page. Every keyword in the Keywords table is clickable and opens a full breakdown of its ranking history, search-volume metrics, and the actual SERP that GTrack captured on the last tracking run.

## Opening a Keyword Detail Page

On the Keywords page, click any keyword name in the table.

![Keywords page — click any keyword name in the table to open its detail page](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/7/f/2/f/7f2f2b9a81bb9000/image_bzxug.png)

At the top of the detail page you'll see:
* **Keyword name** with a copy icon
* **Rank badge** — current position (or `--` if untracked)
* **Device badge** — Desktop or Mobile
* **Location** — the location used for this specific keyword
* **Last tracked date**
* **Refresh** button — runs tracking for this keyword immediately
* **View Campaign** button — returns to the Keywords table

## Ranking History Chart

The **Ranking History** chart shows how this keyword's position has changed over time.

* The Y-axis shows position (lower = better; position 1 is at the top)
* The X-axis shows dates
* Hover over any point to see the exact date and position

## Keyword Metrics

The **Keyword Metrics** panel shows Google Ads data for this keyword:

| Metric | Description |
| ---- |
| **Avg Monthly Searches** | Estimated monthly search volume |
| **Competition** | Google Ads competition level (Low / Medium / High) |
| **Top of Page Bid (low)** | Minimum suggested Google Ads CPC bid |
| **Top of Page Bid (high)** | Maximum suggested Google Ads CPC bid |
| **12-Month Trend** | Bar chart showing month-by-month search volume |

Click **Sync from Google Ads** to refresh the metrics with the latest data (requires a Google Ads connection).

## SERP Results

### View SERP

Click **View SERP** to open a live snapshot of the Google search results page in a new browser tab. This shows the full rendered SERP from the time of the last tracking run — organic results, ads, and SERP features included.

### Raw JSON

Click **Raw JSON** to see the full raw API response from the tracking engine. This includes the parser engine, geo location, organic result count, and full HTML. Primarily useful for diagnostics.

## Understanding Your Ranking Data

| Position range | What it means |
| ---- |
| 1–3 | Top of page 1 — highest visibility |
| 4–10 | Rest of page 1 — good, but lower click rates |
| 11–20 | Page 2 — rarely seen by users |
| 21+ | Page 3+ — effectively not ranking |
| `--` | Not tracked yet or not found within configured search depth |
