GTrack New Scan & View Scan Results Tutorial
Google Maps Rank Tracker | New Scan and View Scan Results
Use the Google Maps Rank Tracker to track how your business ranks for specific keywords across a geographic grid.
⚙️ Note: Before starting a scan, you can customize the Zoom Level and Language under the Advanced Settings panel (available for Advanced and higher plans - not available on the Starter Plan). This helps ensure your ranking results closely match what users see on Google Maps. 📘 Learn more about setting Zoom Level and Language in GTrack
Step 1: Log in to your account
- Log in to the GTrack
Step 2: Choose Your Business and Keyword(s)
- On the main screen:
- Search for your business by typing your Business name and selecting it from the results. (Service Area Businesses (SABs) are also supported. GTrack can find businesses that don’t display a public address on Google Maps.)
Please, make sure you search and select your business first
- Add up to 5 Keywords
- Manually type the keyword you want to track, then press Enter - add one to five keywords.
⭐ **AI Keyword Suggestions ** Available for Paid Plans only - limited access on Free
Take advantage of our AI Keyword Suggestions feature to generate up to 20 recommended keywords based on your selected business.
- Click the blue star icon next to the keyword input field to open the AI suggestions modal.
- Select up to 5 keywords from the generated list by clicking "Add" next to each suggestion.

Step 3: Select Scan Type and Configure Area
First, choose the scan type:
- Maps Scan – checks rankings directly on Google Maps
- Local Pack Scan – checks rankings inside Google’s 3-pack results
- Both – run both scans together for full visibility
⚠️ The Local Pack Scan feature is available on Paid plans (not for Free accounts). More about Local Pack scans is explained in this tutorial.
Next, set your scan area:
- Use the grid size dropdown to define how large the scan area will be
Example: 9x9
- Select your preferred unit of distance: Kilometers or Miles

Step 4: Initiate the Scan
- The map will show a grid of pins, each representing a search point around your business. The center pin marks your business location.
- You can disable the pins that you do not need to scan
- Click Initiate Scan to start collecting data.

Step 5: Wait for the Scan to Complete
After you initiate the scan, GTrack will process each keyword separately.
You will see a list of scans, one for each keyword you selected.
➡️ Click “View Details” on the right side for each scan to open the results and see how your business ranks for that specific keyword across the selected grid.
Check the results one by one to understand your visibility for every keyword.

Step 6: Analyze Your Results
Map View Tab
In the Map View tab, you can explore how your business ranks across the selected grid.
Each pin shows your ranking position for the chosen keyword.
- Green numbers mean strong rankings (top positions).
- Orange numbers show weaker visibility further from your location.
- Clicking on any pin will open the detailed results for that exact spot.

Here, you’ll see:
- Your business highlighted in the results list
- Competing businesses for the same keyword

View All Ranked Businesses
The left panel shows a full list of businesses detected in the scan.
Each one displays:
- Their average rank across the grid
- Their best ranking position
- How many times they appeared in the Top 20
- Their visibility percentage across the grid
- Their review rating and total review count
You can click on any business in the list to highlight their rankings across the map.
Example: Exploring a Competitor
When you select a competitor from the list, the map updates to show their exact rankings across the grid.
You’ll also see updated statistics, such as:
- Their average rank and distribution of top positions
- Areas where they have no visibility
- A donut chart showing visibility distribution (High, Medium, Low)
